How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

First released in 1994 as Lange & Söhne's prototypical dress watch, the Saxonia has had an undeniable air of elegance, sophistication, and stunning design baked into its aesthetic since it first made its way onto the wrists of watch collectors. Since then, the collection has evolved to include some of the most stunning dress watches around, much like the ref. 105.022 that we have here. Crafted from 18k yellow gold and featuring a stunning symmetrical silver dial with Lange & Söhne's signature outsize date complication and a small seconds subdial to boot, the Saxonia is a refined design of utter elegance and decorum. Sporting an exhibition caseback, the Saxonia ref. 105.022 proudly displays its immaculately finished manual-wind movement – perhaps one of Lange's most esteemed features. Considered to be one of the ultimate dress watches, it doesn't take too long to figure out why collectors hold Lange & Söhne to such high regard - their watches are simply incredible.

THE DIAL

With its monochromatic silver dial, the Saxonia's blued steel hands and black outsize date are perfectly legible as they pop against the backdrop and remain easy to read at a glance.

THE MOVEMENT

Powering the Saxonia is Lange's cal. L941.3 movement. With its immaculate 3/4 German silver baseplate, hand-engraved balance cock and incredible blend of finishing techniques, it is no surprise watch collectors love the Glashutte giants as much as they do.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in near mint overall condition, showing light and careful use. There are no visible dings or marks on the watch, and the hallmarks are sharp and well defined. Silvered dial appears flawless as do the blued hands. Watch comes on a non-Lange strap made for Huber, the original retailer of the watch. The original Lange buckle is fitted to the watch.

Our Perspective

Regarded just as highly as the Holy Trinity in terms of quality, attention to detail and overall horological excellence, it is only a matter of time before the wider watchmaking community begins to see the actual value Lange & Söhne and their offerings represent. This "Neo-Vintage" Lange Saxonia has increasingly become coveted by collectors for its Teutonic good looks and perfect size and proportions.
