Introduction
When A. Lange & Söhne unveiled the Zeitwerk in 2009, it challenged one of watchmaking’s oldest conventions. Rather than displaying the time with traditional hands, the Zeitwerk uses three jumping numeral discs to present the hours and minutes digitally from left to right. Translating this concept into a mechanical wristwatch required an entirely new movement architecture and resulted in one of the most distinctive and technically ambitious watches of the modern Lange era.
At its heart is the manual-winding calibre L043.1, developed to manage the considerable energy required to advance the display discs instantaneously. A constant-force mechanism regulates the delivery of that energy, while the signature German silver time bridge gives the dial its unmistakable architecture. This watch combines the Zeitwerk’s radical display with the understated character of an 18K white gold case and silvered dial.

THE DIAL
The blue dial is dominated by Lange’s distinctive German silver time bridge, framing the jumping hour and minute displays while visually anchoring the subsidiary seconds and power reserve indication. Immediately recognisable as a Zeitwerk, the result is both highly technical and remarkably balanced.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Crafted in 18K white gold and measuring 42mm, the Zeitwerk has a substantial presence that suits the architecture of its unconventional display. A sapphire display case back reveals the manually wound calibre L043.1 and the exceptional movement finishing for which A. Lange & Söhne is renowned.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The 18K white gold case shows signs of careful wear, with some marks to the rear of the lugs from strap changes. All hallmarks and engravings remain crisp. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a leather strap and an 18K white gold A. Lange & Söhne pin buckle in near-mint condition. Comes with inner and outer boxes, guarantee book, two booklets, and document holder.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Few modern watches are as immediately recognisable as the Zeitwerk. By rethinking how a mechanical watch could display time, A. Lange & Söhne created something genuinely original, with the ref. 140.024 pairing that technical ingenuity with the understated appeal of white gold and a silvered dial.
