Introduction
Founded in 2018 by a long-time employee of F.P. Journe, Ataelier Haute was launched by Vladimir Victor Négault, who has been on F.P. Journe’s R&D team since 2004 thanks to his expertise creating 2D and 3D animations that helped to explain the concepts that earned F.P. Journe its esteemed place within the horological zeitgeist. After 14 years studying watchmaking on the side, Vladimir went out on his own and launched Ataelier Haute by creating five different models, of which we have one here, the Complication Dual Time, which debuted in 2022 as the brand’s first model. Created as a limited edition of only 120 pieces, one of which was a prototype that the brand has retained, and 19 of which were individually-numbered examples that were used to fund the whole endeavour, the remaining 99 examples, of which we have one, were launched on the open market. Making almost everything in-house with the exception of some movement parts such as the running gear and the balance wheel from a hand-wound ETA/Peseux 7001 movement, the entire 41mm x 9mm stainless steel timepiece offers a new and unique aesthetic to an otherwise ordinary complication, on paper at least. Powered by the manual-wind cal. Architecture Mécanique N°1, the Complication Dual Time features offset local time and an arched home time display with day/night disc and 12h scale. Combining a unique design for its dial elements such as its numerals and hands with an interesting layout, this is exactly the sort of watch that we like to see come out of the workshops of independent watchmakers with the pedigree of someone like Vladimir.

THE DIAL
With an interesting layout that combines local and home time indicators with a variety of different elements that give this model's display an unusual design, the Complication Dual Time suggests that Ataelier Haute is going to be a watchmaker that does its own thing and doesn't conform to industry standards.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Impressively compact on the wrist for a watch with an in-house movement made by such a young brand, the Complication Dual Time's 41mm x 9mm stainless steel case is sleek and easy on the eye, and clearly demonstrates just how much thought has gone into its design.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case and case back show signs of very careful wear. The dial and hands remain like new. It is fitted with a grey leather strap and a pin buckle showing light surface scratches. Comes complete with boxes, watch roll, and warranty card.
Our Perspective
A young independent brand founded by an industry veteran will always have high expectations thanks to the association the brand's founder with his previous workplace, and Vladimir Victor Négault has certainly delivered on those expectations with the Complication Dual Time.
