Introduction
Famed for their embrace of avant-garde aesthetics, Audemars Piguet’s design language has become known for how clearly it breaks away from the typically reserved designs of its fellow watchmakers. Offered here as the embodiment of that idea is an 18kt white gold timepiece that features a braided rope-style bezel whose texture is continued along and through its integrated bracelet and around the watch. Contrasting this heavy texture is the timepiece’s polished surfaces that flow down two of its bracelet links, which reflect the juxtaposition of this example’s bright 18kt white gold construction with its incredible stone dial. A vivid array of blues, greens, reds and oranges, this example’s opal display brightly contrasts 18kt white gold’s simplicity, much in the same way that the timepiece’s own construction makes an understated metal appear much more complex than a lot of watchmakers would make it. An interesting blend of colors and textures, this timepiece champion’s AP’s artistic creativity and their craftmanship alike to stunning effect.
