Audemars Piguet Dress Watch 18kt WG

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Today famed for their octagonal design elements as best seen in the Royal Oak, Royal Oak Offshore, Royal Oak Concept, Code 11.59 and others, Audemars Piguet, like just about every other high-end watchmaker was best-known for their round dress watches. Designed with a minimalist aesthetic that epitomized the timepiece’s functional nature, these dress watches were round, thin and had elegantly legible dials – just as this vintage dress watch has. Hailing from the 1980s, this dress watch is an 18kt white gold example that features a light grey dial with carefully applied baton indices and simple baton hands that feed into its design language all the more. Featuring a svelte 31mm white gold case that stands around 6mm tall, this example is an extra-thin watch, as AP has always been known for. With its stepped bezel and carefully tapering lugs, this example wears with an impressive sense of refinement that imbues it with the same sense of grace and decorum that mid-century dress watches are known and loved for.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Featuring slim applied indices and elegant baton hands, this example's grey dial maintains an elegant monochromatic aesthetic that is embodied throughout the rest of the timepiece.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Featuring a brightly polished 18kt white gold construction with a stepped bezel and carefully tapered lugs that boast subtle bevelling, this timepiece takes great lengths to showcase under-the-radar artisanal craftsmanship that could easily be missed if you don't pay enough attention.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Powered by a quartz movement, this timepiece wears almost completely flat with its stepped design allowing it t wear as close to the wrist as possible.

Condition

Watch is in excellent overall condition. Minor wear is visible on the case, including some hairlines on the case sides and bezel. Caseback is crisp and engravings and hallmarks are razor sharp. Watch comes with its original 18k WG AP buckle.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

An elegant dress watch that blends modern watchmaking technology in the form of its quartz movement with mid-century design in the form of its svelte construction, this timepiece truly gives its owner the best of both worlds.
