Going down as one of the most iconic models of wristwatch ever, the Audemars Piguet is the watch that created the luxury steel sports watch category when it was released in 1972. Designed by the legendary Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is iconic for its octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and tapisserie engraved dial, all aesthetic pillars of the watch still to this day. While the watch originally broke trends within the industry due to its large size, earning it the ‘Jumbo’ nickname, the ref. 25594SA that we have here measures in at 36mm giving it a more compact feel that is in line with its vintage origins as a watch released in 1983. Thanks to the complex cal. 2124/2825 movement driving its day-date and moonphase complications, the ref. 25594 is a bit thicker than the standard time only Royal Oak, measuring in at 9mm. Combined with its 36mm diameter, this combination gives the ref. 25594SA a fantastic presence, that when combined with its two-tone construction gives the watch some heft on the wrist. Complimenting this bimetal construction is a white dial with Roman hour markers and sunken sub-dials, all of which combine to amplify the visual appeal offered by the gorgeous tow-tone construction.

The watch is in overall excellent condition. The watch has been previously polished, but the edges remains well defined, with light scratches, and the case back has well-defined engravings with light wear on the screw heads. The yellow gold bezel has some light surface wear still visible. The dial is in excellent condition, with clean yellow gold hands that show slight discoloration in the lume. The bracelet currently fits a 7" wrist and has 20 links, 5 of which are removable, with light play between the links.
