Introduction
First released in 1993, the Royal Oak Offshore was designed to expand upon Audemars Piguet's ever-iconic Royal Oak collection as a sports-focused timepiece. Designed so that it could take some serious wear and tear while continuing to perform at the highest standards possible, the Royal Oak Offshore epitomized a luxury sports watch by all accounts. Featuring AP's artisanal craftsmanship, avant-garde design, and an impeccable taste for the horological, the Royal Oak Offshore was a true maverick amongst both; AP’s offerings and the entire industry. Launched in 2010 as a Ladies’ version of the Offshore Chronograph, the ref. 26048SK that we have here remains faithful to the original release’s aesthetic with a robust yet downsized 37mm stainless steel case and iconic integrated rubber strap with the very same exposed rubber gasket and winding crown as on the larger model. Featuring a bright purple dial with a Méga Tapisserie pattern, three subdials and a date complication along with a diamond-set rubber-clad bezel, the ref. 26048SK speaks to the Royal Oak Offshore’s fan-favourite aesthetic. Sporting somewhat unusual circular applied hour markers which highlights its smaller female-friendly unisex design and construction, the ref. 26048SK is a endearing combination of design details that make for a rather unique timepiece.

Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case has light scratches and tiny nicks but remains very well defined. The diamond-set bezel is excellent, and the case back has very crisp engravings. The rubber cladding on the bezel edge, pushers, and crown is in excellent condition. The purple mega tapisserie dial and hands are near mint. The AP rubber strap is in excellent condition, as is the steel deployant clasp, which shows light scuffs.

A thoroughly capable timepiece, the Royal Oak Offshore was one of the first watches within the hyper-sports watch category - a category that has since given rise to brands like Richard Mille, and given a platform to brands like Hublot and many others to pivot from.
