Introduction
Few watches have transformed modern watchmaking like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Designed by Gérald Genta and introduced in 1972, it challenged convention by combining luxury finishing with a stainless steel sports watch, creating an entirely new category that would go on to define the industry. Its octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and distinctive Petite Tapisserie dial remain among the most recognisable design elements in horology, with the Royal Oak now regarded as one of the most influential watches ever produced.
Introduced during the Royal Oak's continued evolution in the 1980s and 1990s, the ref. 56303SA offers a more compact interpretation of the iconic design. Measuring 33mm and crafted from stainless steel and 18K yellow gold, it combines the collection's unmistakable aesthetic with the convenience and slim profile of a quartz movement. Enhanced by a grey Petite Tapisserie dial set with diamond hour markers, this reference perfectly captures the elegant, versatile character that made two-tone Royal Oaks such enduring classics.

THE DIAL
The elegant grey Petite Tapisserie dial is elevated by factory-set diamond hour markers, adding a refined touch to the Royal Oak's iconic design. The combination of the textured dial, applied AP signature and diamond indexes creates a sophisticated aesthetic that perfectly complements the two-tone case and bracelet.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The Royal Oak's instantly recognisable architecture is beautifully expressed through its stainless steel and 18K yellow gold construction, with the signature octagonal bezel, exposed white gold screws and integrated bracelet creating one of the most celebrated silhouettes in watchmaking.

THE MOVEMENT
Powered by a slim quartz movement, the ref. 56303SA wears remarkably thin and comfortably on the wrist while retaining all of the visual impact of its mechanical counterparts.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows surface scratches and light marks. The yellow gold bezel has surface scratches, while the winding crown shows signs of wear. The case back retains well-defined engravings, with a few small nicks and light wear to the screw heads. The champagne Petite Tapisserie dial is in near-mint condition, having developed a subtle colour change to the centre of the dial. The hands remain clean. It is fitted with a steel and yellow gold integrated bracelet showing surface marks and moderate play between the links. The bracelet is fitted with 19 links, 4 of which are removable, and fits approximately a 6¾” wrist. There are 2 spare links included. Comes with the Analog:Shift box and paperwork.
Our Perspective
The smaller Royal Oak references have become increasingly appreciated by collectors, offering all of Gérald Genta's groundbreaking design in proportions that feel both elegant and timeless. Finished in stainless steel and 18K yellow gold and enhanced by its factory diamond-set Petite Tapisserie dial, the ref. 56303SA is a wonderfully refined interpretation of one of horology's true icons.
