How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

In 1991, Audemars Piguet released the "Star Wheel", a watch that displays time via three sapphire disks. The minutes are displayed on a separate linear track in the upper portion of the dial. Produced solely in precious metals and in extremely limited quantities, the Star Wheel has served as inspiration to the likes of Urwerk, amongst other independent watchmakers.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in very good to excellent condition. There is light superficial wear along the case of the watch, but the engravings are all fully visible. A rosy patina has started to develop on the case. There is light wear along the edge of the minutes track of the dial.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

The Star Wheel is an AP model I've always much admired. Perfectly unconventional, it was truly advanced for its time. It took other brands, such as Urwerk, several years to incorporate sapphire disks in their watches to display time. This particular model would appeal to both vintage and modern collectors alike. It is a solid example of the style, and would be a highly prized addition to any collection.
