Introduction
Best known for their avant-garde design language and novel approach to high-end horology, Audemars Piguet has become one of the most revered watchmakers thanks to their sheer creativity and craftsmanship. Offered as a celebration of both of those tenets, the watch that we have here, the Twenty Dollar Coin Watch ref. 35610BA, is a wonderful exhibition of AP’s reluctance to fit within any traditional mould. Boasting a 34mm 18kt yellow gold construction, this coin watch is exactly as it seems, a $20 gold coin, only it features a hidden button on its coin edge case that allows the coin to open up and an 18kt yellow gold watch to be revealed. Powered by a manual-wind movement and featuring a simple off-white dial, this timepiece is a fun and interesting showcase of AP’s skill, and their unique approach to watchmaking – an approach that has allowed them to remain one of the most desirable watchmakers in the industry for centuries.

THE DIAL
Sporting a simple off-white dial with Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o'clock and long thin hour markers to match its long thin hands, this timepiece's display is subtle so as to not distract from its remarkable construction.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Opened via the push button hidden in the side of the coin's edge, this coin watch is a wonderfully fun and unusual piece of watchmaking.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall good condition. The twenty dollar gold coin has scratches and nicks, with some signs of repair or damage on the tails side of the coin. The surface is worn, with loss of definition apparent on both sides of the coin. The inner watch has a gold case in very good condition with partially legible hallmarks on the rear of the watch case. The dial has signs of aging and degradation, and the hands have some scratches. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
Rather impressively packing an entire watch and hidden mechanism into its construction, one might say that this $20 gold coin is priceless.
