Introduction
Founded in 1735, Blancpain is widely recognized as the oldest watchmaker in the world, with its list of accolades just as impressive as its storied past. While the watchmaker did succumb to the Quartz Crisis, its takeover by Jean-Claude Biver in 1993 enabled Blancpain to go back to the roots of watchmaking and focus on traditional fine craftsmanship and high-end complications, much like what we can see in the Blancpain Perpetual Calendar Minute Repeater we have on offer here. Sized at a rather traditional and svelte 34mm and featuring a classic round 18k gold case, on a leather strap, the ref. 5335 1418 is a heritage-inspired piece of watchmaking artistry as it explores the absolute finest complications watchmaking has to offer on a dress watch silhouette that would fit in with Blancpain's pieces of old. With its minute repeater chiming the time on demand and its perpetual calendar displaying the day, month, and date without fail all year round, this beautiful watch embodies what makes watchmaking so great. With its moonphase further linking it to horology’s ancestry, this immaculate watch is a must-have for any watchmaking connoisseur.
