Introduction
Founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet, one of horology’s most famed watchmakers, Breguet is a brand rooted in classical horological excellence. With such innovations as the tourbillon, the Breguet overcoil and their eponymous ‘Breguet’ hands and even numerals among their impressive list of accolades, Breguet are widely renowned as one of the most influential and important watchmakers in the industry. With a truly remarkable history, Breguet’s timepieces often hark back to the classical period of watchmaking through a traditional aesthetic, and this platinum Jump Hour "Heures Sautantes" ref. 3420 does exactly that. Launched in 1990 as a limited edition collection of only 800 pieces, the Jump Hour "Heures Sautantes" boasts a perfectly round platinum case with a polished domed bezel that swoops down to the midcase where it overhangs a coin-edge texture and a wonderfully detailed dial inspired by those chronometers that came before it. Featuring a white enamel dial with a jump hour aperture at 12 o’clock and a Breguet numeral-filled minute ring for its minutes, which are indicated by a lone Breguet hand, this is an elegantly styled timepiece that is undoubtedly Breguet at their finest in just about every way from its craftsmanship, design and execution.

THE CONSTRUCTION

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The platinum case shows a number of surface scratches and small nicks, particularly to the bezel, while the case back retains well-defined engravings and a wave pattern around the inner circumference. The cabochon-topped winding crown remains excellent. The dial remains excellent and the blued minute hand remains very clean. There is a small piece of dirt under the crystal near 5, it is not a crack or mark on the dial. Watch is fitted with a black crocodile strap and a platinum Breguet pin buckle, both remaining in excellent condition. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Vividly Breguet in just about every way possible, this example displays the French watchmaker's most refined and elegant touches of design from its gorgeous enamel dial to its carefully constructed case, and it is hard not to see the appeal of its luxuriously understated aesthetic.
