Launched in the late 1990s, the Navitimer Montbrilliant is a wonderfully-styled timepiece that blends Breitling’s rich tool watch heritage with the classier design elements of their mid-century models, such as the Chronomat from the 1940s. Sized at what would have been a massive construction in the mid-1900s, the A30030.2 features a 38mm case diameter as it blends its vintage-inspired construction with modern tastes. Featuring a busy, yet legible silver dial and a stainless steel case with the Navitimer’s iconic slide rule bezel and its signature hobnail texture, the Montbrillant is utterly unmistakable as a member of the Navtimer family. Sporting a red central seconds track like that on vintage Chronomats and both blued and non-blued hands, the A30030.2’s dial is surprisingly legible as its various features are separated by color. Furthermore, this example's dial also boasts a beautifully unique patina in its center that has taken on a rich bronze hue, which adds to its wonderful aesthetic. With recessed subdials featuring concentric guilloche engraving and a subtle grainy surface throughout the rest of the dial, the A30030.2’s dial is a satisfying blend of color, textures, and useful inscriptions such as those along the dial’s periphery, which enables its slide rule bezel to operate as amazingly as it does.

Watch is in excellent overall condition, with only minor surface wear. The dial has aged to a pleasing tropical tone, with a darkened center of the dial. The bracelet has 12 links total, 3 of which are removable. There is little stretch.
Executing on the Navitimer's history as a true pilot's watch, the A30030.2 Montbrillant takes vintage Breitling design elements such as its dial and somewhat-conservative sizing, for modern tastes, and fuses it with a modern level of watchmaking that results in a timepiece that's up to the task, and will look stunning while tackling it.
