Introduction

First released in 1952 and based on Breitling’s 1942 Chronomat, the Breitling Navitimer was the pilot’s watch to end all pilot’s watches. Following Breitling’s collaboration with the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) to make the slide rule of its Chronomat even more relevant to pilots, the Navitimer was born as the ultimate pilot’s watch. Basically a hand-held computer, the Navitimer enabled pilots to quickly figure out fuel consumption rates, average speeds, convert between various scales, and much more. Offered here we have the Navitimer Fighters ref. A13330 hailing from the early 2000s. Made of stainless steel and measuring 41.5mm in diameter and 15.4mm tall, it wears with a distinctly modern wrist presence, something that Breitling’s timepieces have been known and loved for over the decades. Boasting a true-to-the-original black dial with a tri-compax design with three matching white subdials at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock, the A13330 features a white chapter ring for its slide rule bezel and punchy red accents that highlight the complexity of the Navitimer’s information-dense dial. A Navitimer variant that merges the collection’s historical aesthetic with Breitling’s modern build quality and attention to detail, the A13330 has helped power Breitling's ascension to the peak of sports watchmaking that they currently occupy in a manner that Breitling fans can only appreciate.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Boasting a monochromatic black dial with white subdials at 12, 6 and 9 o'clock, the A13330 features a matching white chapter ring that highlights the inscriptions that give the Navitimer's iconic slide rule bezel its ability to make the calculations that pilots once relied so heavily on.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

While it is a slightly different model to the base collection, the A13330 features the Navitimer's essence in its design in the form of its stainless steel bracelet and large 41.5mm case that ensures it is a supremely robust and capable tool watch with tons of wrist presence.

Condition

Watch is in very good overall condition. Case shows signs of use with some scratches and marks visible along the surface. There is slight surface corrosion between the mid-case and bezel visible around the edge near the lower pusher. There are marks visible along the bracelet and caseback areas as well. "B" signed crown has scratches visible. Dial appears to show no signs of wear or aging, but the crystal has marks and scratches visible on the surface. Bracelet has 8 links total, 1 of which is removable. It will fit a 6 1/2" wrist.

Our Perspective

Inarguably one of the most iconic watches ever, the Navitimer Fighter ref. A13330 merges the Navitimer's iconic identity with a modern sense of design that will seamlessly blend into any Breitling-lover's collection.
