Introduction
First launched in 1957, the SuperOcean was Breitling’s response to the increasing demand for dive watches and their answer to watches like the Rolex Submariner, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Omega Seamaster that were released just a few years prior. Making the SuperOcean waterproof to an unprecedented 200 meters, Breitling made the SuperOcean one of the most heavy-duty dive watches available at the time. However, after seven years, the SuperOceans Breitling had produced were beginning to run stale, and so in 1964 they released the ref. 2005, which is now nicknamed the “Slow Counter,” which was powered by a heavily modified version of the Venus cal. 188 which was renamed the Valjoux cal. 7731 after Valjoux’s take-over of Venus in 1966. This gave the Superocean some heritage within the arena of chronographs, and so today we have Superocean Chronograph models that are rooted in that utilitarian history, much like the Superocean Heritage Chronograph ref. U13313 that we have here. Boasting a regular chronograph function with a trio of subdials, this modern 44mm model is a two-tone stainless steel and rose gold variant from the Superocean family that comes complete with a black dial and ceramic bezel combo and is offered on a rubber strap, which suits its functionality as a dive watch with 200m of water resistance.

THE DIAL
Dense with information, the ref. U13313's black dial perfectly matches its black ceramic bezel and comes complete with large luminous hands, day and date functions, and a trio of chronograph subdials.

THE CONSTRUCTION

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall very good condition. The steel case shows surface scratches, with more noticeable nicks to the upper right lug and the case sides. The case back retains well-defined engravings. The bezel and insert remain excellent, while the dial and hands are near mint. It is fitted with a black rubber strap and a steel deployant clasp showing surface scratches. Comes complete with watch roll, outer box, warranty, booklets, document holders, and original sales paperwork.
Our Perspective
Combining Breitling's heritage within the realm of dive watches and chronographs into one imposing timepiece, the ref. U13313 is a watch with a commanding wrist presence and an impressive abundance of functionality that makes it a great daily wearer.
