Introduction
Created using a 1904 $20 gold coin, the watch that we have here is a 35mm 18kt yellow gold watch that is cleverly concealed within the coin itself by a hinged cover. Made by Bucherer, the famed Swiss jeweller and retailer, the watch has a manually-wound timepiece with a champagne dial within its construction that is attached to the coin via a hinge that allows it to stand proud of the coin. Only 4mm thick, this timepiece is a discreet dress watch while on the wrist that hides a secret that only its wearer and those in the know can appreciate.

THE DIAL
Boasting a champagne dial that is hidden by the coin's front, this watch's nature as a timepiece is subtle and discrete.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Made from a $20 gold coin, this watch is certainly rather unique, but also luxurious, with its coin-edge midcase, decorative front, and intricate internal mechanism.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The outer $20 coin case shows scratches and surface marks consistent with its vintage, but retains well-defined surfaces, edges, and lugs. The inner watch case is also excellent, with some scratches on the case back and clearly defined hallmarks and stamps. The dial is excellent, with a couple of small marks and clean hands. The watch is fitted with a Bucherer-signed alligator strap and a gold-plated buckle that shows some surface wear. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
An exciting piece of horology that combines watchmaking with numismatics and pure luxury, this timepiece perfectly speaks to Bucherer's place as a fine jeweller.
