Introduction
Introduced in the 1970s and remaining in production until the '80s, the Cartier Cristallor is a wonderfully rare watch. With relatively low production quantities, the Cristallor has escaped the hype and hysteria that several of its sibling models have experienced in recent months. With serial numbers for most models within three digits of one another, it is understood that fewer than 1000 Cristallor models were produced, or at least not too many more than that. Featuring an octagonal case with a thick triple-stepped bezel that frames its white Paris-signed dial, the Cristallor stands as a beautiful example of Cartier’s uncanny ability to create some refreshingly unique designs that broke from the traditional norms of the time in which they were born. With hidden lugs and a relatively large 35 x 28 case, the Cristallor sits on the wrist with a contemporary poise that has certainly survived the test of time. Originally retailed from the Parisian Cartier boutique, as denoted by the “Paris” signed dial, this example exudes just about everything that a true Cartier purist would hope to see in a timepiece of the Cristallor’s unique and remarkable importance.

Condition
In very well preserved condition. The watch has tremendous character. The dial is very well preserved with some light tarnishing towards the very edge where the dial meets the bezel. The overall finish to the dial has aged to a lovely egg-sell. The case is crisp with nicely defined steps and case lines. Only very minor surface wear. The case back with very clear and crisp inscriptions. The screw heads are also in very nice condition. Overall, a great example of this uber rare reference. The Cartier Deployant buckle in equally well preserved condition.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A fantastically rare and beautiful timepiece, the Cristallor is a great value proposition within the ranks of vintage Cartier given its comparative lack of attention.
