Introduction
Much like a lot of Cartier’s catalog, the Cartier Pasha has a long and storied history. According to legend, the Pasha was supposedly conceived by Louis Cartier for The Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami El Glaoui, in the early 1930s. As the story goes, The Pasha ordered a one-of-a-kind gold watch that could keep pace with his active lifestyle and boasted a level of water resistance that was uncommon at the time. Cartier’s answer was the Pasha; a large timepiece with a screw-down crown cover and metal grid that protected its dial. During the Quartz Crisis, Cartier reached out to Gerald Genta in 1985, of Royal Oak and Nautilus fame, to design a precious metal luxury sports watch that could capitalize on the growing market for such watches, like the gold Submariner at the time. Genta’s design was the Cartier Pasha as we know it today. It is a sizeable masculine timepiece with a sporty bezel, a unique screw-down crown cover, a clean dial, and its now-iconic Vendome lugs. The variant we have here is the Green Marble Pasha ref. 2313. Featuring an artistically executed green marble stone dial, this example’s white and green dial is quite exquisite to say the least. Contemporarily sized at 38mm in diameter and boasting the Pasha’s atypical design topped off with a diamond-set grill across its sapphire crystal, this watch is a perfect example of everything that makes Cartier so special.

THE DIAL
Shielded behind a diamond-set grill, the Pasha ref. 2313's white and green marble dial is a stunning example of Cartier's craftsmanship with its golden applied Arabic numerals serving as the cherry on top of a beautiful and luxurious display.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Breaking from Cartier's typically classical proportions, the Pasha is a modern watch with a unique design that is very much 'Cartier' in its own way, with its Vendome lugs drawing comparisons to the Must de Cartier Ronde Vermeil and its screw-down crown guard providing a unique touch that is rather atypical for Cartier to say the least.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case shows some scratches, visible primarily along the turning bezel and caseback surface. The engravings are crisp and fully visible, but there are hairlines and marks on the surface. Removable diamond grill fitted across the crystal and dial. Original Stone dial in excellent shape with no hairlines visible on the surface. Watch comes on a worn strap with its original 18k WG deployant buckle.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
An exceptional combination of Cartier's design prowess, the Pasha's history, and Cartier's general capacity as a fine watchmaker and jeweler, the ref. 2313's marble stone dial and diamond-set grill combine to create a true feast for the eyes.
