Introduction
In 1917, Louis Cartier introduced the Tank- which has arguably become the brand's most iconic model. It is storied that the first prototype Tank was presented to the US General John Pershing a year later. Since then, Cartier has created many versions of the Tank design, including but not limited to, the Tank Louis, Tank Cintrée, and Tank Normale. The Tank Americaine was introduced in 1989 and immediately became a classic. Inspired by the lines of the Tank Cintrée, the Americaine features a slightly bolder and more athletic profile.

Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case shows minor signs of surface wear, with some scratches and marks visible, primarily on the polished surfaces. The original dial is in excellent condition, with only minor signs of aging along the edge and corners of the dial. Watch comes with original 18k tang buckle and Cartier signed strap. Please note that the watch is ticking at time of cataloging, but it is keeping poor time and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
The popularity, as well as the prices, of the Cartier Tank and its variants have increased exponentially over the course of the last few years. Taking many cues from the Cintree, the Tank Americane is a modern watch with vintage sensibilities that appeals to modern collector's tastes and their love of Cartier's iconic design language.
