Introduction
In 1917, Louis Cartier introduced the Tank- which has arguably become the brand's most iconic model. It is storied that the first prototype Tank was presented to the US General John Pershing a year later. Since then, Cartier has created many versions of the Tank design, including but not limited to, the Tank Louis, Tank Cintrée, and Tank Normale. The Tank Americaine was introduced in 1989 and immediately became a classic. Inspired by the lines of the Tank Cintrée, the Americaine features a slightly bolder and more athletic profile.

THE CONSTRUCTION
With a distinctive banana-shaped case and Cartier's iconic sapphire cabochon-set crown, the Tank Americaine has a distinctive presence on the wrist that adds to its timeless aesthetic.

Condition
Watch is in very good condition, with surface wear primarily found along the polished surfaces of the case. Small nicks and scratches can be seen on the midcase. Case edges are still sharp and the caseback has crisp engravings and hallmarks. Strap is in worn condition and comes with a white gold pin buckle.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
The popularity, as well as the prices, of the Cartier Tank have increased exponentially over the course of the last few years. Taking many cues from the Cintree, the Tank Americane is a modern watch with vintage sensibilities that appeals to modern collector's tastes and their love of Cartier's iconic design language.
