Introduction
In 1917, Louis Cartier introduced the model Tank, which has arguably become the brand's most iconic model. It is storied that the first prototype Tank was presented to the US General John Pershing a year later. Since then, Cartier has created many versions of the Tank design, including the Tank Louis, Tank Cintrée, and Tank Normale. The Tank Americaine was introduced in 1989 and immediately became a classic. Inspired by the lines of the Tank Cintrée, the Americaine features a slightly bolder and more athletic profile.

THE DIAL
While it may look like the Cartier signature white dial with black Roman numerals at first glance, the ref. 1736-1's dial features a subtle guilloche engraved “flower rosette” pattern that elegantly shadows the exuberance of its sapphire-set bezel.

Condition
Watch is in excellent condition. The case is very crisp with nice lines and proportions. The engravings to the case back are very sharp and easy to read with the naked eye. The case and the bracelet with surface wear. Bracelet is sized to fit a 7 3/4" wrist, 6 links are removable.
Our Perspective
With its incredible bracelet, sapphire bezel, and matching sapphire crown, the Tank Americaine ref. 1736-1 is an incredibly luxurious example of a modern Cartier favorite that is in lovely overall condition.
