Introduction
In 1917, Louis Cartier introduced the Tank- which has arguably become the brand's most iconic model. It is storied that the first prototype Tank was presented to the US General John Pershing a year later. Since then, Cartier has created many versions of the Tank design, including but not limited to, the Tank Louis, Tank Cintrée, and Tank Normale. The Tank Americaine was introduced in 1989 and immediately became a classic. Inspired by the lines of the Tank Cintrée, the Americaine features a slightly bolder and more athletic profile.

THE DIAL
Featuring a white guilloché dial with blued steel hands, black Roman numerals and a black chemin de fer railroad-style minute track, the Tank Americaine XL retains Cartier's signature aesthetic.
THE CASE
Slightly more sporty than the original Tank Cintree, the Tank Americaine shares a strong resemblance with some of the earliest Tanks from the 1920's with its curved profile wrapping across the wrist with a delicate poise.

Condition
Watch is in overall very good condition. Its case has some light surface abrasions on its bezel and midcase, but there is no serious damage or dents. The original strap exhibits some signs of usage.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
The popularity, as well as the prices, of the Cartier Tank have increased exponentially over the course of the last few years. Taking many cues from the Cintree, the Tank Americane is a modern watch with vintage sensibilities that appeals to modern collector's tastes and their love of Cartier's iconic design language.
