Introduction
Launched in 1996, the Cartier Tank Asymètrique was released as a faithful and modern reinterpretation of Cartier’s 1936 Parallelogram design, which would then later become known as the Tank Asymètrique. With its eponymous asymmetric design, the Tank Asymètrique was created as a means to enable drivers to read the time easier while holding the wheel with outstretched arms. Debuted in 2020 as a modern re-release that included 300 individually numbered pieces, split even as 100 pieces per metal across platinum, 18kt yellow gold and 18kt rose gold, as we have here, this edition of the Cartier Tank Asymetrique adds a decidedly modern tone to one of Cartier’s most sought-after designs. With atypical design details considering what are Cartier’s signature dial aesthetics, the ref. 4286’s black dial is tilted to fit the Tank Asymètrique’s offset layout with it also featuringsilver Arabic numerals, rose gold hands, and no chemin de fer railroad-style minute track, which sets this timepiece aside as something unique for Cartier, even when you consider the breadth of their design language as a powerhouse of horological design.

THE DIAL
Forgoing Cartier's signature dial design, the Tank Asymetrique features a black off-set dial with silver Arabic numerals at the even spaces, stick indices at the odd, rose gold hands and no railroad minute track, making the Tank Asymetrique's display unique among the Cartier Tank's large family of collections.
THE CONSTRUCTION
With its angled design, the Tank Asymètrique enables its wearer to read the time quickly and easily while their arms are stretched in front of them, like when holding a steering wheel.

Watch is in new and unworn condition. There is light oxidation on the gold surface as seen in the images.
