Introduction
In 1917, Louis Cartier introduced the Tank as inspired by Renault tanks Louis Cartier saw on the Western Front during WWI. With its legendary heritage and iconic aesthetic, the Tank has arguably become the brand's most iconic model. It is storied that the first prototype Tank was presented to the US General John Pershing a year later in 1918. Since then, Cartier has created many versions of the Tank design, including but not limited to the Tank Louis, Tank Cintrée, Tank Normale, amongst many others. We have here perhaps one of the rarest Tank variants, the Tank Bec d'Aigle (Eagle Beak). Named after its distinctive beak-shaped lugs with their hoods turning down to a point like the iconic bird of prey, the Tank Bec d'Aigle's case design is distinctive and unlike any other Tank variant. Attached to an 18ct yellow gold bracelet and featuring Cartier's signature white dial, the example we have here is a true beauty on the wrist with its vintage character, pristine condition, and peculiar eponymous case design.

Our Perspective
An icon of horological design, the Tank's niche variants like the Bec d'Aigle speak to the idiosyncrasies of modern watch collectors with its unique lugs and noteworthy position as a unique vintage timepiece.
