Chopard Classic Quantieme Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 36/1224 18k YG

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Launched in the early 1990s prior to the debut of Chopard’s L.U.C. department in 1996, the Classique Quantieme Perpetual Calendar Chronograph ref. 36/1224 was Chopard’s signalling to the watchmaking world that they were going to step their game up and challenge the traditional big names with impressive watches that would even make the Holy Trinity proud. Released as a limited edition collection of just 100 pieces, 50 in yellow gold and 50 in white gold, the ref. 36/1224 is as impressive as it is rare. Boasting a 41mm x 13mm yellow gold case with an exaggerated stepped bezel, long downturned lugs and an understated white dial, the ref. 36/1224 epitomises classic mechanical watchmaking at its very finest. Featuring a plethora of information on display across its various inscriptions and subdials, this perpetual calendar chronograph is awash with functions that Chopard managed to cram within its automatic cal. 889/2 movement, which is on display behind an exhibition caseback, which is not an easy feat by any means. An impressive piece, this is neo-vintage high horology at its finest.

THE DIAL

Boasting a truly classical aesthetic, as its name would suggest, the ref. 36/1224 retains an impressive level of legibility thanks to its clearly laid out subdials and inscriptions, even though it is packed with so much information.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Condition

Watch is in very good overall condition. Case has some wear and oxidation visible on the edges. The caseback engravings show signs of wear or previous polishing, but are fully legible. Dial excellent with little to no signs of aging or damage. The watch comes with its original 18k gold buckle. Please note that the watch is ticking and running, the chronograph runs and resets, but the other complications have not been tested. Watch comes with original winding box.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

A stunning watch that showcases Chopard's capabilities even before the launch of the L.U.C. programme, the ref. 36/1224 is Chopard at their very best, and we love it.
