Introduction
While they might be most notable for creating sturdy budget-friendly watches, Seiko have two sibling brands that exist only to punch up. The better-known Grand Seiko and the lesser-known Credor, whose tiny output allows them to create some of the finest watches on the market today in competition with brands like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and so forth. Introduced in 1974 as a collection of precious metal models, Credor began its life rather differently to how we know it today. Branded as "Crêt D'Or", meaning "Golden Crest" in French, it wasn't until 1978 that the brand was spun off into its own collection of watches and renamed "Credor" - as we know it today. Launched in 2018 as one of Credor’s collections, the Linealx debuted with a casual aesthetic that moved away from Credor’s overtly classical design language and embraced everyday functionality. Launched as a limited edition variant of just 30 pieces as a collaboration between Credor and Hataman Touen, the prestigious Imari Nabeshima pottery company famed for their kiln-fired Imari porcelain, the ref. GCBY999 that we have here features a complete stainless steel construction with a striking blue and white porcelain dial inspired by moonlight falling on the gently shimmering waves on a full moon night. Showcasing Hataman Touen’s craftsmanship and Credor’s unwavering dedication to celebrating Japanese crafts and artistry, the GCBY999 is a wonderfully wearable piece of art thanks to its stainless steel case that measures an agreeable 38mm x 7.9mm.. The watch is also supplied with Original Imari Nabeshima ware cufflinks with the moonlight wave design, produced by Hataman Touen to match the watch's display.
