Introduction

Founded in 1989 as one of the early entrants within the modern field of independent watchmaking, Daniel Roth is a watchmaker that quickly gained the plaudits of industry insiders and collectors alike thanks to their stunning creations, fine watchmaking, and dedication to artisanal crafts. With an impressive array of high complication timepieces under their belt, the brand was acquired by BVLGARI in 2000 as the famed Italian jeweler made their way into the watchmaking industry, a move that has since paid off. A cult icon still to this day, Daniel Roth symbolizes the majesty within a unique and distinctive aesthetic - an aesthetic that continues to make their timepieces beloved by collectors around the globe. Here we have a stunning Daniel Roth GMT in stainless steel with a stunningly bright and rather unique yellow dial. Released in 1996 as part of Daniel Roth’s The Hour Glass era following their investment in the brand in 1995, this GMT variant features applied Roman numerals and a clean dial design that differs from Daniel Roth’s typical design as a result of its golden hands, numerals, and date aperture at 6 o’clock. Additionally, it also features a second time zone at 12 o’clock for its eponymous GMT function which can be changed via the pusher found at 2 o’clock on Daniel Roth’s signature stepped ellipsocurvex case design. Crafted from stainless steel and sitting on a leather strap, this 35mm x 38mm GMT remains comfortable on the wrist and provides an experience unlike that of most other watches due to its unique case shape.

Condition

Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case exhibits some light signs of wear, with some marks being visible primarily along the polished bezel and caseback. Dial near-mint with no visible flaws.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

Blending Daniel Roth's exciting take on horology which was still so new to the industry at the time with a new creative direction thanks to The Hour Glass' input, this GMT is a wonderfully unique piece of the independent watchmaker's catalog.
