Introduction
Founded in 1989, Daniel Roth is long-established as one of the early entrants in the independent watchmaking space that has since ballooned with brands like Urkwerk, MB&F, and Richard Mille launching from the foundations that Daniel Roth laid. With their distinctive styling, unique take on design, and technical prowess, the watchmaker quickly rose to fame. An emblematic example of their watchmaking aesthetic, this stainless steel Masters Chronograph model features an intriguingly complex salmon dial with a vertical guilloche pinstripe finish alongside concentric satin-finished chronograph counters and chapter rings and a subtle wavy texture that separates the various subdials and finishes. Furthermore, the Masters Chronograph also includes a date aperture at 4:30, which adds to the dial’s information-dense layout. Pairing distinctive blued steel hands with heritage-inspired black Roman numerals and inscriptions, this Masters Chronograph’s styling is unique in that it blends design cues rooted in watchmaking tradition with Daniel Roth's own innovative take on the industry’s processes, namely through their signature ellipsocurvex case - much like Richard Mille and Franck Muller's use of the tonneau case. With its stepped bezel, a mix of angles and rounded surfaces, and pronounced pushers, it is a perfectly styled case that complements this example’s salmon dial perfectly.

Condition
The stainless steel case is in excellent condition, with some scratches and small nicks visible on the lugs and bezel. The display case back is excellent, though there is some wear to the screw heads. The salmon dial is excellent, featuring vertical ribbed sections and applied lume plots on the inner track. The blued hands are all very clean. The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap and a stainless steel pin buckle. The watch comes with its original boxes and papers. Please Note: The watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A stylish ode to Daniel Roth's unique design language, the Masters Chronograph marries a uniquely busy display with Roth's signature construction resulting in an aesthetic that has stood the test of time.
