Introduction

Founded in 1989, Daniel Roth is long-established as one of the early entrants in the independent watchmaking space that has since ballooned with brands like Urkwerk, MB&F, and Richard Mille launching from the foundations that Daniel Roth laid. With their distinctive styling, fresh take on design, and technical prowess, the watchmaker quickly rose to fame. Launched in 2000 as a limited-edition collection of 50 pieces to celebrate the turn of the Millenium prior to the brand's acquisition by Bulgari, this stunning piece is an emblematic example of Daniel Roth's watchmaking style. Featuring an 18kt white gold case, this Ellipsocurvex Moonphase features a stunning silver dial with pyramidal diamond-shaped engravings and concentric satin-finishings throughout its surface. Highlighting its two complications, a moonphase indicator and power-reserve indicator are two unique wavy textures that stand out with stunning effect. Pairing distinctive blued steel hands with heritage-inspired black Roman numerals and a blue and gold moon phase, this timepiece’s styling is unique in that it blends design cues rooted in watchmaking tradition with Daniel Roth's own innovative take on the industry’s processes; namely through their signature ellipsocurvex case - much like how Richard Mille and Franck Muller's use of the tonneau case has become an emblematic piece of their design and aesthetic too.

Additionally, this example is presented with a Daniel Roth-branded stylus still within its original packaging. This stylus enables the wearer to operate the pushers on the side of the timepiece's case that correlate with its moonphase complication, but it can also be used for other Daniel Roth timepieces with similar-sized complication pushers.

Condition

Watch is in very good-excellent condition. There are minor dings and marks on the case, namely on the polished surfaces. Guilloche dial is immaculate as are the hands.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

An iconic brand within the industry thanks to their position as one of the first major names within independent watchmaking, Daniel Roth has come to the attention of collectors again thanks to their distinctive aesthetic, interesting use of shape, and pioneering attention to detail - something that is clearly on show here with this beautiful moon phase shining a light on one of watchmaking's most classical complications.
