Originally launched in 2006, the De Bethune DB21 Maxichrono debuted as a revolutionary take on the chronograph, with it boasting five centrally-positioned hands instead of featuring subdials for each of its various hands. Re-issued in 2019 as a limited edition of only 10 pieces, the watch that we have here is the DB21 Maxichrono Réédition ref. DB21RE that was a faithful and accurate re-issue of the original, which followed another Maxichrono model that had launched in 2014 but in a different case shape that belonged to the DB28 collection. Made of De Bethune’s signature blued titanium, the DB21RE features a 44.4mm case with the brand’s signature articulating lugs that gives it a wearability that would otherwise be unobtainable given its large stature. With its three-dimensional dial housing a variety of colors, textures, and finishes, this is one incredibly unique chronograph that certainly demonstrates De Bethune’s incredible ability as an independent watchmaker.
