Introduction
Launching in 2002, De Bethune has burst onto the watchmaking scene with hi-tech materials, innovative movements and stunning avant-garde designs that have enabled them to quickly become one of the most distinctive watchmakers in the industry. Founded by THA founders Denis Flageollet and David Zanetta, the idea for De Bethune was that it would be a true watch manufacture, something De Bethune has undoubtedly achieved with their models that encompass almost every facet of horology. Recognised as one of the most important indie watchmakers of recent times, De Bethune have created a powerful sense of self as they forge on with their own unique aesthetic and style. Carrying that aesthetic in abundance is the DB25 Starry Varius GMT in Titanium that we have here. Boasting a remarkable focus on ergonomics, finishing and raw craftsmanship, the DB25 Starry Varius GMT is a wonderful example of why De Bethune are held to such a high regard in the watchmaking industry.
Free from complications that might muddle its design, the DB25VGTIS3 is a dual time zone timepiece powered by the impeccably finished 5-day power reserve manually wound cal. DB2007 movement. Featuring 368 parts with a mirror-polished steel plate and barrel bridge cover adorned with "côtes de Bethune” finishing, hand-snailed barrels and hand-polished, chamfered steel parts throughout, this movement is a feast for the eyes behind the DB25 Starry Varius GMT’s exhibition caseback. As its name suggests, where the Starry Varius’ design really shines is its dial. Blending a guilloche engraved half along with a highly polished blued titanium plate for its other half, which is then encircled with a sunken 24-hr ring, the dial speaks to De Bethune’s signature aesthetic, with a starry night sky made up using gold studs, which represent stars, in the center. With De Bethune’s signature hollowed-out lugs extending from the centre of this timepiece’s entirely polished case, this 44mm x 10.6mm thick beauty sits flat on the wrist for a wonderfully ergonomic experience.

THE DIAL
Inspired by the night's sky, the Starry Varius GMT's display is full of color and texture and boasts a golden star-studded blued titanium dial that replicates our view of the Milky Way galaxy on a darkly lit night, along with a silver sunburst-engraved portion that takes inspiration from the sun's rays.

THE CONSTRUCTION
While large at 44mm in diameter, the DB25 GMT's use of titanium and thin profile of just 10.6mm (especially considering its complication) creates a timepiece that is light and pleasant on the wrist.

Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The titanium case has some light surface marks consistent with careful wear. The dial and hands are in like-new condition. The watch is fitted with a navy crocodile strap and signed titanium pin buckle, both in near-mint condition. Comes with original guarantee certificate.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A watchmaker like none other, De Bethune's timepieces have become increasingly sought-after due to how different they are to find, how well they are made, and how much of a presence they have on the wrist - everything that this DB25 GMT exhibits.
