Introduction
Commanding a rich horological history, Eberhard are famed for their work from the 20th century across a whole host of wristwatches, but it is the chronograph that earned the brand their stripes, with their mid-century chronographs boasting impressive finishing and being powered by technologically astute movements, much like the Extra-Fort ref. 14801 that we have here. Powered by the manual-wind cal. 310-8, which is the same movement as found in the Contodat, another well-known chronograph from the brand, the ref. 14801 is an 18kt yellow gold chronograph that boasts the brand’s distinctive aesthetic influence, mainly shown through its long lugs. Featuring a thin bezel and a bright white dial with some pops of blue and red thanks to its tachymeter scale, the ref. 14801 is decidedly mid-century in its design, but modernised on the wrist thanks to its long lugs and combination of a bright dial with a thin bezel that make it wear larger than its 36mm diameter suggests.

THE DIAL
Boasting a bright white dial with a few pops of red and blue thanks to its tachymeter scale and squared subdial hands, the ref. 14801's display is wonderfully mid-century in its design and execution.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Presented with long lugs and a thin bezel, the ref. 14801's 18kt yellow gold construction is decidedly vintage in its detailing, but it wears slightly large for its time, thanks to its 36mm diameter and long lugs.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case shows light surface scratches and marks consistent with age, while the case back displays surface scratches and retains well-defined engravings. The white dial with blue tachymeter scale shows good condition printing, with some damage and degradation visible around the edges along with light surface marks. It is fitted with a brown leather strap and a gold-plated pin buckle.
Our Perspective
An appealing example of Eberhard's mid-century watchmaking prowess, we can see where the brand's modern design language stemmed from with the ref. 14801's long lugs and well-executed chronograph.
