Introduction
A distinctive chronograph that combines classic Swiss watchmaking with a sporty, robust aesthetic, the Favre Leuba Kellmer Sea Sky Chronograph ref. 33043 was launched in the 1960s following Favre Leuba’s attempt to capture the adventurous spirit that had taken grip of that era of watchmaking. Launched during Favre Leuba’s heydays, the Kellmer Sea Sky Chronograph features a massive (especially for the time) rounded rectangular stainless steel case that is 43mm in diameter and features a blue bakelite rotating countdown timing bezel that emphasizes its sporty design roots. The grey dial layout features three silver sub-dials and large luminous hands, which bring both functionality and balance to the display. Powered by a reliable Valjoux cal. 72 manual-wind movement, the ref. 33043 delivers dependable chronograph performance along with its vintage appeal, and durable construction, which has all combined to embody Favre Leuba's legacy and the bygone era of adventurous watchmaking that the Kellmer Sea Sky Chronograph was created during.

THE DIAL
Featuring a black dial with nicely aged tritium luminous hour markers and hands, the ref. 33043's grey display is actually filled with subtle bursts of color thanks to its yellow tachymeter scale, red accents, creamy yellow tritium lume, and blue bakelite bezel insert.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Completely disregarding the style of the time in favor of functionality, the Kellmer Sea Sky Chronograph's 43mm rounded rectangular stainless steel case packs an unapologetic wrist presence that is based on utility above all else.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in near-mint condition. The steel case shows light surface scratches and a couple of small nicks to the case back edges from light wear or handling, with much of the original case back covering still in place. The bezel remains near mint, including the blue insert. The dial shows some lume shrinkage to the hour markers, while the sub-dials have developed light patina, and the hands remain clean. It is fitted with a new blue strap and a steel pin buckle. Please note that the movement 'clicks' when changing the time and the chrono hand doesnt set back to 12 exactly, and so a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
Embodying the uniquely vintage aesthetic that so many collectors are drawn to, the Kellmer Sea Sky Chronograph represents a bygone era of watchmaking when these watches were relied on as crucial tools of the trade, and so they were built with that in mind.
