Introduction
Gagà Laboratorio was established in 2024 as a more mechanically focused offshoot of Gagà Milano, bringing together founder Ruben Tomella and tattoo artist and designer Mo Coppoletta. Its debut Labormatic collection approached watchmaking from an intentionally unconventional direction, combining Italian design exuberance with mechanical displays that largely dispense with conventional hands. The name itself references the Latin labor, work, effort and enterprise, reflecting the idea of combining artistic and mechanical craft within a single object.
The Labormatic was launched in two interpretations, Cinquanta and Bauhaus, with this example being the more restrained Bauhaus model. Its monochromatic black and grey palette is paired with a wandering digital hour display, analogue minutes and rotating central seconds indication. The seven-part 42mm stainless steel case incorporates a gunmetal-grey-coated middle section, dramatically stepped lugs and an unusual crown positioned at 12 o'clock. Inside is the automatic La Joux-Perret G100, providing 68 hours of power reserve and visible through the sapphire case back beneath a bespoke Gagà Laboratorio rotor. It is an unusual combination that is mechanically straightforward underneath, but highly original in the way that information is presented above.

THE DIAL
The segmented black and grey dial uses an unconventional combination of displays. Hours appear digitally through the framed aperture at 12 o'clock, while a red hand indicates the minutes against black markers. At the centre, a continuously rotating disc carrying the Gagà Laboratorio signature provides the running-seconds indication.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The seven-part stainless steel case measures 42mm by 13.3mm and combines polished and brushed surfaces with a gunmetal-grey-coated middle case. Strongly curved, multi-part stepped lugs create much of its character, while the crown is unusually positioned between the upper lugs at 12 o'clock. Sapphire crystals are fitted front and back.

Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The stainless steel case shows some scratches to the bezel and lugs, with a small nick to the gunmetal finish on the non-crown side. The case back shows signs of wear, with the engravings remaining crisp. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a black leather strap and steel pin buckle showing light surface marks. Comes with inner and outer boxes, warranty card and holder and hangtag.
Our Perspective
The Labormatic Bauhaus is less about mechanical complexity than finding a different way to communicate time. Its digital hour aperture, analogue minute indication and rotating seconds disc turn the familiar three-hand format into something far more theatrical. The monochromatic Bauhaus version is particularly effective, tempering that eccentric display with a restrained palette while retaining the distinctly Italian character behind Gagà Laboratorio.
