Introduction
Launched in 1969, Gerald Genta, the brand, was founded by the famed eponymous watch designer best known best for creating the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak amongst countless other watch designs. While both of those watches were launched in the 1970s, his brand was immediately successful on account of his already growing renown in the industry. With a growing clientele of royalty such as the Moroccan King, the Sultans of both, Oman and Brunei, the King of Spain, the King of Saudi Arabia, the Queen Mother of England and several leading businessmen, sportsmen and entertainers, Gerald Genta's own timepieces quickly became sought-after pieces of horological royalty. By the 1990s one of his best-known designs were round timepieces with retrograde displays and domed cases much like the Retro Sport Jump Hour ref. RSP.L.10 that we have here. Featuring a black and silver retrograde display, the Retro Sport displays the minutes in its northern hemispehere, and the hours within its jump hour display at 6 o’clock. With its domed bezel, stainless steel case and leather strap, the Retro Sport is a wonderfully capable timepiece that can handle hard wear and continue to look great while doing it. While the Gerald Genta brand was eventually sold to Bvlgari in 2000, the brand’s timepieces still conjure a close link to their famed designer and all of his other incredible work. An interesting watch linked to horology's most decorated designer, this timepiece is undoubtedly a must-have for any collector seeking to obtain a unique piece of true watchmaking history.

THE DIAL
Featuring a translucent southern half, the Retro Sport provides a semi-skeletonized view of its jump hour disc beneath. Furthermore, the Retro Sport's red accents atop its black and silver dial provide a colorful contrast to this already unique dial.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Unapologetically "Genta" in its design, the Retro Sport's circular stainless steel case and retrograde display leave no uncertainty as to the designer of this incredibly unique timepiece.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case has some light scratches and a couple of small nicks on the bezel and lugs. The case back has well-defined engravings with some wear to the screw heads and marks around the screw holes. The dial and hands are near-mint. It is fitted with a black fabric one-piece strap with a PVD-coated buckle.
Our Perspective
Blending dial colors alongside an already unique display, the Retro Sport is a fun timepiece that doesn't take itself too seriously - tenets of Gerald Genta's design identity.
