Introduction
Launched in 1969, Gerald Genta, the brand, was founded by the famed eponymous watch designer best known for creating the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak amongst countless other designs. While both of those watches were launched in the 1970s, his brand was immediately successful on account of his already growing renown in the industry. With a growing clientele of royalty such as the Moroccan King, the Sultans of both, Oman and Brunei, the King of Spain, the King of Saudi Arabia, the Queen Mother of England and several leading businessmen, sportsmen and entertainers, Gerald Genta's own timepieces quickly became sought-after pieces of horological royalty. With his VIP clientele, Gerald Genta become known for producing exquisite timepieces made from precious metals that boasted meticulously crafted movements, much like the ref. G3123.7 that we have here from the 1990s. Boasting a round 34mm 950 platinum case that blends polished and brushed surface finishes, the ref. G.3123.7 is a wonderfully luxurious timepiece. With a simple black dial without indices and large gold hands, the ref. G.3123.7 is a simple watch that contrasts the majority of Genta’s other designs which are typically maximalist. A dress watch at heart, the ref. G.3123.7 is powered by a quartz movement and was retailed by arguably one of the UK’s most famous jewelers, Asprey, as indicated by its co-signed dial.

THE DIAL
Boasting a black dial with large golden hands and no indices in its dial, the G.3123.7's hour markers are instead engraved notches along the case periphery beneath its bezel.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Made from 950 platinum, as its bezel engraving proudly states, the ref. G.3123.7's 34mm construction flies under the radar on the wrist, but packs a heft presence to remind its wearer of its luxurious nature.

THE PROFILE
Powered by a quartz movement, the G.3123.7's thin profile allows it to wear close to the wrist like a traditional dress watch.
Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. There is wear on the case, primaily visible on the back side. Front side exhibits minor marks on the thin polished bezel and lugs. Comes on original leather strap and with original platinum tang buckle.
Our Perspective
Mixing Asprey's refined sense of luxury with a small hint of Genta's maximalist aesthetic, the ref. G.3123.7 combines an eclectic handset and bezel engraving with a luxurious platinum construction that results in a timepiece bearing the mark of one of watchmaking's most prolific designers.
