Introduction
Girard-Perregaux’s partnership with Aston Martin began in 2021, spanning both the British marque’s road cars and its Formula 1 programme. The Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition, released the following year, pushed that relationship beyond shared colours and branding by incorporating material taken directly from two Aston Martin Formula 1 cars raced during the 2021 season. Carbon elements from the cars were combined with titanium powder and green-tinted resin to form the 44mm case, producing a lightweight composite whose mottled appearance is unique to each watch.
The Formula 1 connection continues throughout the design. Aston Martin Racing Green covers the crosshatched dial, while lime accents reference the AMF1 cars and the openworked hands take inspiration from automotive cooling apertures. Even the strap incorporates carbon sourced from the race cars, mixed with FKM rubber to create Girard-Perregaux’s proprietary Rubber Alloy. Powered by the automatic calibre GP03300-1058, the watch was produced in 306 examples, a number chosen to correspond with the approximately 306-kilometre race distance of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

THE DIAL
The Aston Martin Racing Green dial features a crosshatched texture inspired by the marque’s historic badge, with lime chronograph accents referencing the AMF1 racing livery. Openworked hands evoke the cooling apertures of Aston Martin cars, while three snailed registers provide chronograph and running-seconds displays. A discreet date aperture sits between 4 and 5 o’clock.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The 44mm Laureato Absolute case combines titanium powder with carbon elements taken from Aston Martin Formula 1 cars raced during the 2021 season. Green-tinted resin creates a distinctive mottled finish, while the strap similarly incorporates race-car carbon within an FKM rubber compound. Despite its motorsport-focused construction, the watch retains 100 metres of water resistance.

Our Perspective
Motorsport collaborations can sometimes amount to little more than a new colour scheme, but this Laureato Absolute has a far more tangible connection to Formula 1. Carbon from actual Aston Martin race cars is incorporated into both the case and strap, giving the collaboration genuine material provenance. Limited to 306 pieces and unmistakably tied to Aston Martin’s return to Formula 1, it is one of the more thoughtfully executed automotive editions of the Laureato.
