First created in 1975 hot on the heels of the AP Royal Oak, the Girard Perregaux Laureato is one of watchmaking’s original stainless steel sports watches. Today, its legacy lives on with its consistent design language and GP’s high-end craftsmanship. Launched in 2021 as an all-sapphire variant of the iconic watch, the Laureato Absolute Light ref. 81071-43-231-FB6A blended the utmost in horological engineering with modern movement design to create a timepiece that stands out in more ways than one. Featuring a 44mm case fashioned out of a block of sapphire and a rubber bracelet attached to titanium lugs, the ref. 81071 is a unique and virtually scratch-proof timepiece. Sporting a monochromatic design thanks to its array of bright whites, the ref. 81071 is a beautifully executed design that embodies total exuberance. With its grey openworked dial exposing its cal. GP01800 movement, the ref. 81071 displays an array of anthracite bridges and a contrasting rhodium-plated gear train that both match and juxtapose its all-black construction perfectly to enable optimal legibility. Limited to only 88 units, this is perhaps one of the most unique takes on GP’s iconic Laureato.

Watch is in excellent overall condition. Sapphire case shows no chips or visible scratches. Titanium lugs and crown show some minor wear on the surfaces, as does the titanium buckle. Please note that while the movement winds and runs at time of cataloging, the timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.

Combining an iconic design with some of watchmaking's most modern manufacturing techniques, the Laureato Absolute Light is a marvel of horological engineering.
