Introduction
Founded in 1960 with the sole intention of challenging the idea that Swiss watchmaking was the be-all and end-all of the watchmaking industry, Grand Seiko has endeavored to create some of the most technically astute and wonderfully crafted timepieces possible. Launched in 1966, Grand Seiko came out with their own certification, "Grand Seiko Standard." With a daily deviation of between -3/+5 seconds, it was more accurate than Swiss chronometer testing, which was -1/+10 seconds per day. Launched in 1968, Grand Seiko debuted the automatic cal. 6145, a hi-beat movement with a blisteringly fast 36000 BPH, that would go on to be fitted within several of their watches, one of which being the watch that we have here, the Grand Seiko Hi-Beat ref. 6145-8000. Made of 18kt yellow gold and boasting a stunning silver dial, this 36.5mm timepiece offer’s Grand Seiko’s market-leading accuracy within a luxurious construction that is befitting of one of Japan’s finest watchmakers.
