Introduction
Released in 2019 from within Grand Seiko’s Elegance Collection, the SBGA407 is an interesting take on one of Grand Seiko’s most popular watches, the Snowflake SBGA211 that debuted in 2015. Featuring an ice-blue “Skyflake” dial, as Grand Seiko collectors have called it, with a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock with some incredibly well-executed dauphine hands and applied indices, this timepiece showcases Grand Seiko’s impressive level of craftsmanship. Powered by the impeccably finished automatic Spring Drive cal. 9S65, the SBGA407 is a wonderfully useable watch that blends the practicality of automatic winding with quartz precision. Made of stainless steel, the SBGA407’s 40.2mm case houses a dial inspired by the wind-swept snow covering the ground on a clear winter’s day that reflect’s the sky’s rich blue hue. An elegant piece on the wrist that beautifully balances understated elegance and an intriguing design language with second-to-none Japanese horological engineering, the SBGA407 is a timepiece that deserves the Grand Seiko name printed on its display.

THE DIAL
Inspired by wind-swept snow reflecting the sky on a clear winter's day, the Skyflake's dial boasts an ice-blue color and a subtle snowflake texture.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Flying under the radar as a stainless steel watch, the SBGA407 clearly showcases Grand Seiko's impressive craftsmanship for those who are willing to look for it with its Zaratsu polished bezel and lug hoods, along with its sharp lug bevels.
THE MOVEMENT
Powered by Seiko's Spring drive cal. 9R65 movement, the SBGA413 combines the convenience of mechanical self-winding with the accuracy of quartz technology, and thus can't be timed on our timegrapher.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows a number of scratches to the bezel and non-crown side, along with a scuff to the bottom right lug. The display case back has a couple of scratches around the screw holes, with all engravings remaining fully legible. The dial and hands are in near-mint condition. The watch is fitted with a black Grand Seiko crocodile strap and a steel deployant clasp showing surface marks. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes, warranty, booklet, and pouch.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
