Released as a modern recreation of the very first Grand Seiko timepiece that Seiko released back in 1960, the First Creation’ ref. SBGW295 was launched as a limited editon series of 500 pieces in 2023 to celebrate the brand’s 110th anniversary. Sized like a typical dress watch, the SBGW295 features a round 38mm titanium case that is just 10.9mm thick and boasts a set of long angular lugs that feature polished bevels that sharpen-up its design. Powered by the manually wound cal. 9S64 movement, the SBGW295 features 72 hours of power reserve and remains linked to the original Grand Seiko watches that it is inspired by. Sporting a black dial made of Urushi lacquer, a lacquer that can be traced back to Japan's Jomon Period (13,100 BCE– 400 BCE) and uses a unique lacquer made with sap from the urushi tree found in Japan and China, the SBGW295’s display is the perfect celebration of Grand Seiko’s proud Japanese heritage. With almost no inscriptions besides Grand Seiko’s name at 12 o’clock in gold and gold indices and minute track, the SBGW295’s dial is reminiscent of the dress watches of old with its understated design, under-the-radar craftsmanship and link to Grand Seiko’s 110-year history as a proud Japanese watchmaker.

Using a special titanium alloy due to its brightness, the SBGW295 is immediately more luxurious than other titanium watches on the wrist.
