Introduction
Released in 2020 as a limited edition boutique-only model of Grand Seiko's Hi-Beat collection, the ref. SBGJ235 is a stunningly designed timepiece that remains rooted in Grand Seiko's Japanese heritage. Like a lot of Grand Seiko timepieces, the ref. SBGJ235's secret is in its finer details, notably its dial. Featuring a stunning blue dial with a 'Mount Iwate pattern,' the ref. SBGJ235 proudly displays the ridgelines of mountain Iwate, which is viewable from the Shizukuishi Watch Studio, where all of Grand Seiko's mechanical timepieces are laboriously made by hand. Using the same 44GS case that Grand Seiko popularized, the ref. SBGJ235 retains the hallmarks of the brand's aesthetic and puts a unique spin on it through the use of its beautiful dial. Completing the watch is an exhibition caseback that bears the Grand Seiko lion emblem with the words "Grand Seiko Boutique Limited Edition" to set the watch off and once again remind its owner that this is no ordinary watch, but instead an exclusive and thoughtfully designed Japanese timepiece.
