Showcased at the end of 2020 and formally released at the beginning of 2021, Grand Seiko's latest model to capitalise on their growing reputation for exquisitely designed dials is the stunning new Hi-Beat SLGH003 made from steel with Grand Seiko’s signature 44GS-style case. While its 36000 bph Hi-Beat cal. 9SA5 movement with its dual impulse escapement is the star of the show from the rear with the SLGH003’s exhibition caseback, its gorgeous blue dial is the piece de resistance from the front. While not too exuberant, the dial’s simple matte finish and stunningly finished hands and indices elevate the timepiece’s refined design nicely as it combines with the Zaratsu polishing and satin brush finishes that can be found across the 40mm case that surrounds it. Elegantly curved to wrap around the wrist comfortably, the SLGH003’s 44GS-style case is Grand Seiko at their best, much like its dial and incredible movement - the trifecta of watch design.
