With a slew of sports models dominating the watch community’s impression of Grand Seiko, it is timepieces like the SBGA413 that speak to the Japanese watchmaker's original inspiration. Founded with deep tradition in Japanese excellence, Grand Seiko was set up to challenge the dominance of Swiss watchmakers. Existing as a testament to that very ethos, the SBGA413 exudes luxury, fine-finishing, and contemporary design in ways competing timepieces just can’t quite duplicate. Released in 2019, the SBGA413 is a part of the Grand Seiko Heritage collection and features a contemporary case design inspired by the original 44GS case design from 1967. Taking its inspiration to another level, the SBGA413 also resides within Grand Seiko’s ‘Seasons’ collection, as it draws its inspiration from the Vernal Equinox Day, or “Shunbun” as it is known in Japan. This is the day that Winter turns into Spring, and as such, the SBGA413’s dial features a heavily textured cherry blossom pink dial that takes inspiration from the pattern that fallen sakura blossom leaves make in water as they drift across the surface.
