Introduction
Released in 2017 as a recreation of the original Grand Seiko timepieces that Seiko released back in 1960, the SBGW253 was amongst the very first set of limited edition timepieces that Grand Seiko ever produced with a production limit of 1960 pieces. Sized like a typical dress watch, the SBGW253 features a round 38mm stainless steel case that is just 11.2mm thick and features a period-correct set of long angular lugs. Powered by the manually wound cal. 9S64 movement, the SBGW253 features 72 hours of power reserve and remains linked to the original Grand Seiko watches that it is inspired by. Featuring a stunning domed silver dial with silver Grand Seiko inscriptions and applied hour markers, the SBGW253's dial design is reminiscent of the dress watches of old thanks to its ‘less is more approach’, just like the rest of its understated aesthetic.
