Introduction
Released in 2011 as a revival of the very first Grand Seiko timepiece that Seiko released back in 1960, the SBGW033 is a limited edition timepiece of just 1300 examples and remains entirely faithful to the watch that inspired it. Sized like a typical dress watch of the time, the SBGW033 features a round 35.8mm stainless steel case with a period-correct set of finely-finished long angular lugs. Powered by the manually wound cal. 9S64 movement, the SBGW033 features 72 hours of power reserve and remains linked to the original Grand Seiko watches that it is inspired by. Featuring a stunning domed cream dial with virtually no inscriptions besides a single line at 6 o’clock and diamond-cut applied hour markers, the SBGW033's dial design is an incredibly accurate modern interpretation of the 1960s Grand Seiko that inspired it. Reminiscent of the dress watches of old, thanks to its ‘less is more approach’, the SBGW033’s understated aesthetic is executed to a delightful standard that will undoubtedly have no trouble in pleasantly surprising its next owner.
