H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack 1804-1206

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Perhaps one of the most widely-revered names within the arena of independent watchmaking, H. Moser & Cie have come leaps and bounds since 2005 when they were taken over by the Meylan family. Since then they have built upon a minimalist aesthetic that resonates with collectors looking for something a little unique, much like this Endeavor Tourbillon Vanta Black that we have here. In keeping with Moser’s famously understated design language, the Endeavor Tourbillon Vantablack utilizes an unbranded dial and a beautifully finished movement and carefully crafted steel case with a black DLC-finish to execute the brand’s vision for the timepiece. Famed for their impeccable dials and creating the current trend we have seen explode in the last few years with regards to fume dials, Moser’s dials are revered, and for good reason. However, expanding out from their typical designs, the Endeavor Tourbillon Vantablack was launched in 2020 as a limited edition collection of just 50 pieces. Made using the blackest pigment possible, the Endeavour Tourbillon’s Vantablack’s dial absorbs 99.965% of light, drawing attention to Moser’s distinct ability to create timepieces that are unmistakably theirs, even if their dials lack branding and inscriptions, or any other defining features other than their unique adherence to the idea within watchmaking that less is more. Powered by the automatic cal. HMC 804, this 42mm beauty has everything that has earned Moser their place within watchmaking and more.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

While matching Moser's minimalist aesthetic without any branding or dial furniture, the Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack's dial takes things to a new extreme, with its black paint absorbing 99.965% of the light that hits it, giving it the look of an impossibly deep void with the exception of its tourbillon aperture at 6 o'clock.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Matching its Vantablack dial, the ref. 1804-1206's 42mm stainless steel construction has been given a black DLC-finish, so that the entire watch from its dial to its case features an entirely blacked-out aesthetic.

Condition

The black DLC-coated steel case is in near-mint condition. The lower right lug has a pin head sized imperfection/scratch on the DLC surface. The display case back is also in near-mint condition. The dial shows no signs of degradation, retaining a flawless appearance. The watch is fitted with a black leather strap and a black-coated steel deployant clasp. The watch comes with its original sales receipt but no original box or papers.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

An impeccably constructed watch, Moser have once again showcased their design strengths by creating a timepiece that lets its craftsmanship, aesthetic, overarching theme of luxury, and intelligent use of an unusual twist do its talking rather than a brand name on the dial.
