Introduction
Founded by Richard and Maria Kristina Habring in Austria, Habring² has earned an exceptional reputation for producing technically sophisticated watches in small numbers, combining traditional horology with ingenious mechanical complications. William Massena's Massena LAB, meanwhile, has become one of the most respected collaborators in contemporary watchmaking, partnering with independent brands to create limited editions that celebrate the history of horology while introducing fresh design perspectives. The Erwin LAB02, launched in 2020, marked the second collaboration between the two, bringing together Habring²'s mechanical expertise and Massena LAB's distinctive vintage-inspired aesthetic.
Limited to just 50 pieces, the LAB02 draws heavily on the elegant sector dials of the 1930s, pairing a silver centre with a warm champagne chapter ring in a beautifully balanced composition. Beneath its classically styled exterior lies one of Habring²'s signature complications: the deadbeat seconds. Driven by the manually wound calibre A11MS, the central seconds hand advances in precise one-second intervals, mimicking the appearance of a quartz watch while being achieved entirely through intricate mechanical engineering. It is an uncommon complication that perfectly encapsulates Habring²'s philosophy of creating thoughtful, technically fascinating watches without unnecessary extravagance.

THE DIAL
The two-tone sector dial takes inspiration from the refined wristwatches of the 1930s, combining a silver centre with a champagne chapter ring, raised Arabic numerals and a traditional railway minute track for outstanding clarity and vintage charm.

THE MOVEMENT
The manually wound calibre A11MS features Habring²'s signature deadbeat seconds complication, causing the seconds hand to advance in precise one-second increments. Entirely mechanical in operation, it is a rare and technically demanding complication seldom encountered in modern watchmaking.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case shows light signs of careful wear. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a leather strap and a steel pin buckle showing light surface scuffs. Comes with the box and papers, as well as spare hands and a spare winding crown.
Our Perspective
The Erwin LAB02 is exactly the kind of collaboration that independent watchmaking does best. Rather than relying on novelty alone, it combines thoughtful historical design with a genuinely fascinating mechanical complication, all produced in a run of just 50 examples. For collectors looking beyond the established Swiss maisons, it represents an opportunity to own a watch that is both technically intriguing and unmistakably individual.
