Introduction
The Autavia was one of Heuer's defining chronographs, beginning life as a dashboard instrument before Jack Heuer revived the name for a wristwatch in 1962. Over the following two decades it evolved considerably, from manually wound racing chronographs into larger automatic watches designed for increasingly specialised uses. The ref. 11063 belongs to the final generation of the classic Autavia and arrived in 1983, retaining the substantial tonneau-shaped case and automatic Calibre 12 architecture that had come to define the model while introducing several distinct configurations.
This example is the 11063 T, arguably the most immediately recognisable of the three principal versions. While the 11063 MH combined a black dial and grey registers with a minutes-and-hours bezel, and the 11063 P “Diver 100” adopted diving-oriented hands and bezel scales, the T used a tachymeter bezel and the black-and-white colour scheme associated with the celebrated Viceroy Autavias. White chronograph registers contrast sharply against the black dial, while brushed steel hands with red accents and tips provide the familiar sporting character. At 42mm, and powered by Heuer's automatic Calibre 12, it represents a late evolution of an Autavia design language established more than a decade earlier.

THE DIAL
The 11063 T is distinguished by its black dial and contrasting white chronograph registers, a combination recalling the earlier “Viceroy” Autavia aesthetic. Brushed steel hands incorporate luminous and red inserts with distinctive red tips, while the date sits discreetly at six o'clock.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The ref. 11063 uses the substantial stainless steel case associated with late-generation Autavias. A screw-down case back and mineral crystal complete the construction. On the 11063 T, the rotating tachymeter bezel reinforces the model's motorsport character and distinguishes it visually and functionally from the other 11063 variants.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case is well defined, with some light scratches and small scuffs to the case edges. A worn case back sticker remains present. The bezel is well defined, with some rubbing to the edge of the black tachymeter insert. The dial and hands are in near-mint condition. It is fitted with a black and red leather strap and steel pin buckle.

Our Perspective
The 11063 T is an interesting bookend to the classic Autavia story. By 1983, the model had travelled a long way from the compact manually wound chronographs of the early 1960s, yet the T deliberately reconnects with one of the Autavia's most memorable colour schemes. Its Viceroy-style dial, red accents, tachymeter bezel and Calibre 12 movement make it a particularly characterful expression of Heuer's late pre-TAG era.
