Introduction
Produced during the mid-1970s, the Heuer Carrera ref. 110.573F represents a striking evolution of Jack Heuer’s legendary chronograph design. Originally introduced in 1963 as a clean and highly legible motorsport chronograph, the Carrera underwent a dramatic stylistic transformation during the 1970s as Heuer embraced the bold case shapes and automatic chronograph technology of the era. Powered by the Calibre 12 automatic movement — itself descended from the groundbreaking Project 99 consortium that helped introduce one of the world’s first automatic chronograph movements — the ref. 110.573F combined technical innovation with distinctly modern styling. Featuring a fumé dial, integrated tonneau-shaped case, and bracelet supplied by NSA, the watch perfectly captures the experimental and highly expressive aesthetic that defined Heuer during the decade.

THE DIAL
The fumé dial features a graduated grey finish that darkens toward the outer edge, giving the watch a dramatic and highly period-correct appearance. Applied hour markers and contrasting grey chronograph subdials create excellent visual balance, while the date aperture positioned at six o’clock maintains the symmetry of the display. The restrained monochromatic palette perfectly complements the Carrera’s distinctly 1970s design language.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The stainless steel case retains its original sunburst finishing, emphasizing the sharp angular geometry characteristic of Heuer’s 1970s Carrera models. Measuring 39mm in diameter, the tonneau-shaped construction offers strong wrist presence while integrating seamlessly with the period NSA bracelet. The case is additionally stamped “52,” identifying the Swiss authorized dealer or distributor through which the watch was originally sold.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows surface scratches and small nicks as expected of a watch of this vintage, while the case back displays surface scratches and retains well-defined stamps. The fumé dial remains excellent, and the orange hands all retain a vibrant hue, while the hour and minute hands appear to have been relumed. It is fitted with a steel bracelet showing surface marks and light play between the links. The bracelet is fitted with 21 links and fits approximately a 6¾” wrist.
Please note: The crown is very stiff when pulled out, making time adjustment difficult, and the chronograph seconds hand does not reset exactly to 12 o’clock. Additionally, the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
This Heuer chronograph’s dial is so beautiful. The “Côtes de Genève” finish constantly reflects the light differently each time your wrist moves. Coupled with its original bracelet, this makes for a stunner. The “52” stamped on the case designates the Swiss authorized dealer who originally sold it.
